Old Carter Whiskey Co. purchased and began renovating a 120+ year old building around 2020 to house their tasting room, social club, and their first bottling area among other uses. I was asked to photograph and document much of the building prior to renovations, which are still underway. Over a few visits, I documented all the layers of each of the three connected buildings, preserving their state in photograph. During this time, I also did some research and found that these buildings and rooms has seen tenants in three different centuries including a bank, a prohibition era liquor store, a distillers offices, apartments, and a boarding house before the upstairs was boarded up for roughly 50 years. This is a small sampling of nearly 750 photographs I have from my time there.
